Indigenous participation in World Heritage management highlighted in Sweden

WTMA Director, Leah Talbot has recently returned from Sweden as part of her research into the participation of Indigenous people in the management of World Heritage properties.

In this case, the focus of her visit was the involvement of the Indigenous Sami reindeer herders in the management of the Laponia World Heritage property in northern Sweden.

During her visit, Leah gave a number of presentations about the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. She reports that these were received with much interest among her Swedish hosts. There is much to be learnt from the experience of other World Heritage property managers so we are looking forward to Leah’s report on the trip.
